Cupertino town is an urban area in Santa Clara County, California, US. It is in the west of San Jose and with portions of the town extending to the foothills of Santa Cruz Mountains. It’s best called the home of the Apple, Inc.
The name of the town is after Arroyo San Jose de Cupertino which is now called the Stevens creek. It was named after Saint Joseph of Cupertino by the cartographer of a Spanish explorer named Juan Bautista de Anza.
Cupertino was a little rural village in the 1800s. Its primary source of income is its fruit farming. Up to the present, almost the entire land area of the Cupertino town is covered by orchards of different fruits such as apricots, prunes, plums and cherries. A wine factory was built on Montebello Ridge since 1800.
According to the census made in 2000, it was recorded that there were 50,546 people residing in the town. There are 18,204 homes and 13,613 families are living in Cupertino town. The racial makeup of the town is made of 50.1% White American, 44.4% Asian American, 4% Hispanic or Latino American, 0.7% african american and the rest are other races.
According to the U. S. Census Bureau, this town has a total area of 10.9 square miles ( twenty-eight km2 ) which is only composed from land. Its weather is warm with mild, wet winters and dry high season.
The town of Cupertino is made from several subdivisions which were often developed in the 1960s. Monta Vista and Rancho Rinconada were built in the 1950s. The seven Springs at the southern part of Cupertino was developed in 1980s. The newest neighborhood is the Oak Valley which was developed in 2000. Up to the present, it plays a crucial role in the citys economy and it became the explanation for the railroad line to be built through the town. Aside from the train, the town has 2 freeways multi-lane boulevards. It has also got cycle lanes thanks to the growing number of people who are using bikes as their way of transportation.
