Teen drinking has been an uncontrollable occurrence since the law was enforced. It is like instructing someone not to do something, but they are way too interested to stop themselves and they do it anyways, so instructing a teenager not to drink while underage is sort of like following the same process. Teen drinking occurs every other night and there have been so many news stories involving teens in car accidents related to drunk driving, that you would think kids would rethink their decisions. Sadly, it has not happened that way and does not seem to be slowing down. So, in order to keep from having to hire a Cincinnati DUI attorney or several Cincinnati DUI lawyers, talk to your kids about the horrors of drunk driving.

After drinking with friends everybody knows the correct precautions to take or should take but they do not always get done because parents are usually not in the picture. If kids are throwing a party for fun and there happens to be underage drinking involved it is important to take everyone’s keys away from their cars and to make sure that everyone is sleeping there or has made arrangements. Driving after drinking is never okay as a teenager, or as an adult.

Sadly, one of the biggest problems that occur when kids start to drink as teenagers is that they do not tell their parents where they are and what they are doing, so if a kid does get into an accident, their parents do not really have a way of getting to them or stopping the problem before it ccurs. If you are a parent of a teenager and your child expresses to you that they want to drink, you do not necessarily have to allow them to drink, but if you do just be sure it is under a controlled environment. Not only will your kids be satisfied, but you will know where your child is and whether or not they are safe.

Recently the argument about the national drinking age has become increasingly more popular between University presidents, parents, and lawmakers alike. Several people believe that lowering the drinking age can only lead to bad things like crime and accidents happening more often. Others disagree, arguing that if an 18 year old adult can leave to serve their country in war, they should be permitted to have a drink. Unfortunately the law does not look like it will be altered, but students are continuing to drink no matter what the law permits.

Underage drinking will probably never cease completely, but the law does what they can to make sure that they can enforce it the best they can. Be sure to talk to your kids about the horrors of driving while intoxicated and that only bad things can come out of it. In order to keep your kids safe you may have to do something that they do not appreciate, but their safety is certainly above whether or not they are liked by their friends, especially when it is something illegal.
