Can Resveratrol Turn Back The Hands Of Time?

Resveratrol is a component that is naturally found in red grape skins. It is the medicinal component of the oriental medicine Ko-jo-kon. Ko-jo-kon is used to treat diseases of the heart, the blood vessels, and the liver.

The therapeutic benefits of Resveratrol are discussed in depth in several Resveratrol reviews and include the possible antioxidant, anticancer and phytoestrogen effects of the supplement. Although the tests and studies show promise, these are not yet accepted as facts in the medical community. However, products and supplements that do contain Resveratrol are not known to have any harmful effects on those who have taken them.

As already mentioned the reason that Resveratrol is found in such abundance of red wine is because the grape skins are not removed during the wine fermentation process. Several studies have suggested in recent past that consuming red wine daily will lower the symptoms of coronary heart disease and this is linked to research that shows that wine contains the compound Resveratrol.

As mentioned, here have been several studies that suggest the effectiveness of resveratrol as being an antioxidant. It has also been mentioned that Resveratrol assists in the reduction of bad cholesterol. Because resveratrol contains highly lipophilic and hydrophilic properties it is thought to be more effective than even vitamins C and E as an antioxidant. It’s not all good news though, the antioxidants epicatechin and quercetin found in red wine prove to be more effective that resveratrol.

Although not yet proven scientists say that “they believe [resveratrol] might do more than just protect the heart, but could in very high concentrations significantly extend life by preventing a number of age related illnesses”. in his response Dr. Christoph Westphal says “If the promise holds true, I think this has the chance to change healthcare”.
