1. Having a wedding rehearsal? Invite your wedding photographer to be there. It gives the photographer an opportunity to plan 2. Have disposable cameras available to the guests at the wedding breakfast. This is a good idea, but just remember the cameras can be poor in quality. Also the best photographers are not usually wedding guests, especially after a few drinks! 3. Another idea is to purchase two or more digital cameras. Try giving them to certain guests and request they take informal and casual pictures. This is a job that can be entrusted to teenage guests, who otherwise might be bored during parts of the day. Requesting they take on the role of casual wedding photographer can give a purpose to their day. 4. Have a small digital camera available for you and your partner, so you both can snap random images, of each other throughout the day. These images can often be more effective in bringing back the feel an emotion of the day than any others. 5. It is always worth checking with the person conducting the ceremony - whether its civil or religious - that photography is allowed during the ceremony. This is especially important with church weddings as occasionally photography is prohibited at the ceremony or at all inside the church itself. Banning flash photography is the most usual restriction. 6. Lighting too is of vital importance for getting quality photographs of your wedding. The amount and type of light can change from one day to another. Be ready to change your photography plans to be ready to accommodate the time of day and weather variations. 7. On my travels around Sussex, as a Brighton wedding photographer, I am often amazed at how little planning, that people put into organising their wedding images. Being organised and thinking ahead, can make a huge positive effect, more than anything else. 8. If a lack of funds is a factor, you could try getting in contact with a trainee wedding photographer who might photograph your wedding without charge, in exchange for photographs for their portfolio and the experience, Free advert websites such as Gumtree are a good starting point, though remember not to have too high expectations, as it is free photography. This is often a better option, to asking a friend or family member to take your photographs, as if things go wrong, through incompetence, negligence or bad luck, it will lead to bad feeling and perhaps damage your important relationships. Following these tips and hints should have some lovely pictures to remind you of your wedding day. If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed! Post a comment
