Have you been married for a while now and things seem to be spiraling into a whirlwind of different schedules for all family members? Do you find little time for romance, routines daily that seem to be robotic like, schedules to keep, commitments to others that take time from the family dynamics? Do you feel you and your husband need to rekindle the bonds that brought you together in the first place? The first thing to do is consider all the distractions of daily life. With children, time commitments can be significant and can be all encompassing. There are car pools, school meetings, sports, birthday parties, homework, shopping trips, and it seems never ending sometimes. These things all help a child to develop social skills and are very important; however, so is your time alone with your spouse and you must try to find a balance. Maybe you can figure a way to lighten the burden on both of you with regards to all the children’s activities by involving others, such as grandparents or aunts and uncles, to take on some of the picking up and dropping off chores. Most grandparents would love to have more time with their grandkids and would find the drive time a good opportunity to communicate more with the kids. What seems like a chore to you could be very enjoyable for the grandparents. Today kids are so busy that they often have little time to spend hours with grandparents so these encounters can be a special time. Maybe you can have a party away from your home at a pizza place or at a sporting event so you do not have to spend hours cleaning and preparing foods, etc. There are bird spotting tours and leaf identification tours that are lead by a Park Ranger which kids will love and will teach them the joys of being outside and nature. The time they are on the supervised hike can be a good time for you and your husband to take a short walk together and discuss some important issues or just relax and spend the time together. The idea is to look at the week activities and see what time you can carve out for you and your husband alone. To have that time to speak to your spouse uninterrupted and to show care and concern are vital to a good marriage. It will make the time you do spend with the children much more productive for them and you as well. A child senses when the parents are in synch in their marriage. The old saying, “The best gift you can give a child is happy parents” holds true in this modern day and age when everyone is so rushed and so intent on doing everything quickly. Take some time to preserve your love and concern for your husband or wife and it will pay off in happier children and more loving and nurturing for the family as a whole. Plan your life and do not just let the world set up all the pressures that need to be met. Make your own goals for your family, your marriage, and your peace of mind. marriage help If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!

Permanent Hair Removal: One of the big questions about permanent laser hair removal that we get asked constantly is: “Just how permanent is laser hair removal? Is it really long-lasting?” This is an important question! To get an idea for how permanent laser hair removal is you need to understand how hair grows and how laser hair removal works. Let’s examine both of these subjects. How Hair Grows Hair grows from structures known as follicles underneath your skin. The root grows in the follicle, and the section of the hair that you can see above your skin is known as the “shaft” of the hair. Your body hair grows in a cyclic way. At any one point, the hair in some of your follicles will be actively growing; other hair follicles will be dormant, and yet others will be going through the shedding process. The Mechanism of Laser Hair Removal Reduction of excessive body hair or even permanent removal is now practical for most skin and hair types. Laser hair reduction therapy works by targeting hair roots under your skin. It is possible for the laser beams to hone in on your hair roots because of the coloring these cells contain, which makes them darker than the surrounding tissues. However, the result is that the success rate of laser hair removal treatment is affected by the disparity in color between your hair roots and your skin. That is to say, it works best on people with very pale skin and very dark hair - where there is a strong disparity between the darkness of your hair roots and the paleness of your surrounding skin tissues. Even in ideal circumstances, however, the lasers do not do away with all of your hair. Why not? Because the lasers can only target actively growing hairs. As we saw earlier, only a certain proportion of your body hair in any one area will be actively growing. This is the reason why laser hair removal treatments are normally spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart - so that different follicles will be active at subsequent treatments, and can be effectively dealt with. Conclusion Because of the mechanism by which laser hair removal works, while it may disable a significant proportion of the follicles it will not cause a 100% stoppage in all body hair growth in the treated area. However, an 80% reduction in hair is entirely possible - permanent laser hair removal is a truly viable solution for undesirable body hair. Skin problems can run from just dried skin, to acne or blemishes up to eczema. Depending on the type of skin you have and the problem, you will need to treat your skin with some sort of lotion or medication if you want to cure your acne or treat your skin care problem. The first think to do is determine if you have acne, dry skin, or eczema. You can not treat these conditions the same way. If you do, you might make your skin care problem even worse. lets first discuss eczema. Dermatitis or Eczema is a skin condition suffered by many and is noticeable by areas of inflamed and usually itchy skin. There are a number of ways to treat eczema but the use of eczema creams, lotions and emollients are the most common. Eczema affected areas of the skin are normally dry and need to have the natural moisture replaced with the help of Eczema creams and lotions. Eczema self-care is a crucial part of controlling the condition and moisturizing is an area that does not require help. The removal of natural body oils will exacerbate the Eczema condition so anything that does this should be stopped straight away. The use of skin moisturizers or emollients involves only using thinner ointments on areas of the skin that are not flaking or dry. Light emollients like aqueous cream may dry the skin if it is very flaky, so heavier ointment should be used. To help stop the skin becoming dry, emollients replace any lost moisture and formulated oils and creams can be used for washing. There are other skin cleansing products that can then be used to help moisten the skin after bathing such as Dipobase for example. Ointments such as Epaderm and Sebexol work in the same way as Eucerin lotion, to help ease the desire to itch the afflicted skin. Although eczema creams work ok, they are not as effective as emollients which do not need continual re-application. The fewer applications that have to be made, the less the skin is touched and this is where the ointments win over the creams because they have less water in the product which means it takes the skin longer to absorb them. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used like Hydrocortisone or Desonide, while more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e. As there is no cure for eczema, controlling the symptoms is about the best you can hope to expect and corticosteroids are well adapted for this use. Corticosteroids must be used sparingly to avoid possible side effects, the most common of which is that their prolonged use can cause the skin to thin and become fragile. To make sure that damage is not done to the face and other fragile skin, only low strength ointments can be used on these areas. In the long term the eczema sufferer should be warned to use the steroid creams or ointments only when they have to. Despite their use and success rate, steroid creams and ointments should only be used sparingly and stopped once the desire result has been achieved. So short to medium term use of corticosteroids does not do any damage or cause any side-effects different from those when using ointment that was not steroid based. Recently, the use of demodulators has been increased to treat the areas of skin affected by eczema with varying degrees of success. If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!

If you have ever had a pimple then you know that acne sucks. And it really sucks if you break out more than normal. I think we could all deal with the occasional acne breakout it’s the breakouts that are week or months long that really can get us down. There is hope. The trick is to learn all you can about two things. Your acne, or type of acne, and the type of skin you have. Lets look at acne first. Our sebaceous glands produce oil called sebum which fouls up the hair follicles and contributes to acne but this is not the only substance responsible. Acne seems to be a condition that is not necessarily a natural one and something that past generations did not suffer with. Fortunately there is hope in treating your acne. We should start with the simple and move to the more complex. The type of soap you are using on your acne could have a big effect on your skin. Try different soaps and see if that helps. Next would be any makeup or lotions you use. Many times the stuff we put on the skin is the real problem. Then, what type of moisturizer you are using or not using. Dry skin can cause acne. Don’t use if you have oily skin. Next would be the types of food you eat. Dairy being one that can cause you to break out. For a recurring or severe case of acne, many sufferers turn to a dermatologist for a more aggressive treatment and in most cases, a prescribed routine and medication can help to treat acne. In most cases, a follow-up visit will be scheduled so that the doctor may monitor the patient’s progress and determine whether additional steps should be taken to treat the problem. Cleanliness is important, especially beneath the fingernails where germs and bacteria can be found and infect the already sensitive skin condition by scratching. The problem comes about because most people do not realize that bacteria and germs cannot normally be seen by the naked eye and they believe if their nails look clean they are safe. Therefore any contact between an acne sufferer’s hands and affected areas should be avoided if possible. Research has shown that if your parents had acne, you’ll probably have it as well and very few people have perfect skin, so it is a very common skin disorder among almost every single person. In the vast majority of acne cases though, it is caused by the transition from a child to an adult and the changes that take place during this period. Nevertheless it is still best to contact a skin specialist before you start any type of medication. Menopause is not some enemy you have to stand on guard for and wait for it to come over the horizon. Many women get themselves into an absolute flutter standing on guard for the signs of menopause symptoms when they don’t need to. The best way to prepare for them is to simply know what they are and understand them and the treatment options available. This is great for mental preparation but don’t go overboard and think it signals the end of your life. Well in a way it does end the life you’ve known from a reproductive point-of-view but the truth is, it’s the beginning of a whole new experience and life for you. In this article, we will examine the signs of menopause symptoms from the more common to those which affect some women and not others. Another great way to get up to date is to simply have a chat with your physician. Menopause Symptoms There are about thirty-five common signs of menopause symptoms that you need to be aware of and these include hot flashes and flushes, night sweating that alternates with cold flashes and feelings of clamminess are also commonly experienced, among other things. When these signs start to show up; they do so very frequently and cause a lot of discomfort to the patient. Other common signs of menopause include rapidly beating heart along with mood swings accompanied by shedding of tears for no plausible reason. In addition, there can also be some amount of problems experienced with getting adequate sleep at night and these sleeping problems can be accompanied with night sweats or without it. Another sign of menopause is that your periods start to become irregular – being heavier in some instances and lighter in other instances. In addition, there is also phantom type periods that can be shorter or even longer than normal periods. People that have begun to notice signs of menopause will also notice that their libido suffers adversely and dry vaginas are another consequence of menopause. Having problems with concentrating, feeling slightly disoriented as well as being fuzzy in the mind and being forgetful are other signs of menopause. You may also suffer from inconsistence when sneezing, coughing or even when laughing. In addition, you can suddenly want to go to the toilet which in turn will cause you to feel anxious about going out of the home, especially to places where there are no restrooms. Other common signs of menopause include itchy skin and joint pains as well as soreness in the tendons and muscles. Some signs of menopause symptoms can also cause you embarrassment such as when your hair begins to thin, or when you may start to notice excessive hair beginning to grow on your face. You may also suffer from body odor which can cause acute embarrassment and your fingernails too can become weakened and will crack quite easily. Another cause for concern for every woman in her middle age is that of pre-menopause symptoms, which occur prior to the onset of menopause and which should be treated at an early stage in order to cope with menopause on a firmer footing. Coping with Chronic Stress - Chronic Stress Treatment With today’s modern lifestyle and the demands of work, family and living standards, we are definitely opening ourselves up to stress related illnesses. Some people might become stressed occasionally, while others suffer from chronic stress. Before we look at ways to go about coping with chronic stress, let’s read the following. Chronic stress arrives routinely and often stay for days or weeks, but can also affect the person for months at a time. People are affected in such a way that they are unable to think about anything other than everything that there is to worry about. People are left fatigued and unable to concentrate. This leads to problems with memory and even lack of proper sleep which makes coping with chronic stress even more difficult. The outcome of chronic stress usually leads to a complete nervous breakdown, which normally leaves the person incapable of doing anything. Over and above the mental symptoms, chronic stress also leads to a weakened immune system, leaving one vulnerable to disease as well as high blood pressure, coronary disease and even strokes. This is because stress tends to elevate the blood pressure, which is very dangerous if it continues too long. And as the heart continues to pump too quickly, it will swell up and eventually break down. Stress also “tells” the body to create more platelets, which are designed to stop bleeding in cuts. Coping with chronic stress continues - stress treatment: One source of chronic stress can actually be post-traumatic stress disorder. This is a syndrome that occurs when a person has had some sort of sudden, severe stress that has shocked the mind so violently that it is incapable of moving beyond that moment. In fact, s research has show, that a severe shock to the system can actually change the chemistry of the brain so that it becomes suddenly accustomed to stress and it actually desires to stay in a state of stress. So, instead of moving beyond a severe shock, the brain gets “stuck in the moment” and gets “addicted” to the sense of stress. Chronic stress can also result from a long period of stress, which may come from a situation, where you worked under intense pressure, or a rough period of time with the family. Like in the case of post-traumatic stress disorder, the brain becomes accustomed to having all those exciting chemicals flowing through it, so wants to return to the days when it was working at such an intense rate. The problem one faces is to get the brain to become less accustomed to stress and this is not an easy task, since the brain’s chemistry is now attuned to the feeling and its receptors have a higher sensitivity to stress. Another way of coping with chronic stress, is to do more exercise, eat right, and try to get plenty of sleep. This will help balance the mind and allow it to work more clearly while easing fatigue and the inability to concentrate. A long vacation will also provide some relief, seeing that getting away from it all will give the mind a chance to relax. For more severe cases, a person suffering from chronic stress may want to see a counselor or therapist who can help them find ways to relief the tension. There is a certain stigma attached to this form of therapy, so people try and avoid it. But people suffering from chronic stress should be afraid to ask for help and these people are more than happy to provide it. Though chronic stress is difficult to deal with, it is not an impossibility. Sufferers simply need to come to terms with their situation and find solutions that will work for them. This is a tough road to travel down, but the rewards are immense for both mental and physical health. If you are diagnosed with chronic stress, you should seek help immediately. Before discussing a remedy for eczema, it is a good idea to know a bit more about the disorder because while the immune system is affected in some way, the exact result in of eczema is unknown. Normally some outside source will trigger an eczema episode which is an allergic reaction to a particular substance causing localized skin troubles. Not only does the skins surface become red and sometimes dry and flaky but it also brings about itchiness over the affected area. Unfortunately, for sufferers who have a more serious form of eczema, the skins surface can become blistered and bleeds often becoming so bad that the skins surface cracks. Over the years many eczema curatives have been tried and claimed to be a remedy for eczema but even today while there are numerous treatments, it is still a matter of trial error to find one that works for each individual. Because it is linked with the immune system, some people believe that the immune system needs to be strengthened by the use of a substantial well balance diet. This idea stems from the belief that often the all the body requires is good nutrition and not medical intervention. However, an eczema attack can be the result of a lack of Vitamin A in the sufferer, in particular beta carotene which has been related to eczema troubles. Some of the foods that contain this essential nutrient are green vegetables and because eczema is an immune-disorder, you can understand the importance of this essential nutrient towards the healing process. The more natural the remedy for eczema is the better for the person as those will not intervene with the body as chemical based solutions, nor will they make the disorder worse. It is also important to discover how antihistamines affect the body before using them as they may make the skin disorder worse by interfering with the body’s own histamine output and purpose. Emollients purported to be a cure for eczema are often just very good moisturizers which can be used to help prevent and reduce the eczema disorder. Often using steroids like hydrocortisone cream as cure for eczema is efficient; however, use it with caution as the best remedy for eczema is prevention and that means finding out what you are allergic to and avoid it. There are several creams that claim to be holistic cures for eczema - usually these consist of a combination of herbal curatives and extra elements. A popular example is a simple sorbelene moisturizing lotion with elements like avocado oil, oatmeal paste and some herbs mixed in with it to meet the needs of the eczema sufferer. Many people claim success using ground oatmeal which is added to a bathtub as a pure, holistic cure for eczema for sufferers with mild to severe forms of eczema. Eczema affected individuals know to stay in the bathtub only for a short while and that it should only be tepid water and once out to moisturize themselves while they are still damp to maximize the effect of the cream. Oatmeal, whether in a bathtub or cream, soothes and relieves itchy skin thereby giving it time to heal but other research states that baths should be avoided and only tepid showers used because excess water on the skin makes the eczema disorder worse. Acne Treatment Products Acne is a skin condition that manifests itself in various forms and degrees of severity, with the individual methods of treatment depending upon the actual type of acne in question. There are four different types of acne that fall into the category of severe and they include acne conglobata, acne fulminans, gram negative folliculitis, and nodulocystic acne. With these particular types of acne vulgaris, treatment by a dermatologist or other trained professional is most always necessary as it may require the use prescription medication, or in the most severe instances, surgical procedures done in a sterile setting. Some of the most common treatments administered for treating severe acne include prescription drugs such as antibiotics taken orally, and also, topical forms of medication applied directly to the affected areas of the skin. When dealing with the most severe types of acne, treatment isn’t only intended for the outer layers of the skin where the pimples, blackheads, and painful nodules are visible, but for treating the other possible side effects of the condition as well. With acne fulminans, a severe type of acne that usually appears suddenly along with other symptoms such as fever and inflammation of the joints, treatment may entail the use of NSAIDs, which are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or isotretinoin. The use of lasers is another way of treating severe acne and improving the appearance of the skin in what is known as phototherapy. Acne that is caused by mostly by clogged hair follicles benefits the most from this method of treatment, whereas chemical peels may be useful for getting rid of blackheads and minimizing the appearance of red, bumpy skin. For the largest of cysts and lesions caused by acne, surgical extraction may be necessary. A comedo extraction is the surgical removal of cysts and blackheads or whiteheads and it is done to help reduce scarring and infection from occurring. Smaller cysts may, however, be treatable with the use of antibiotics or isotretinoin, but the larger ones will most usually need drained and excised. While dealing with acne of any type or degree of severity, it’s always important to care for the skin correctly and protect it from further damage. Avoid any products containing alcohol or harsh ingredients, and keep the skin amply protected from ultraviolet rays at all times. If you’re dealing with some form of severe acne, it’s best to be examined by your own physician or dermatologist who can recommend the best type of treatment for your particular skin. Never try to “pop” your own cysts caused by severe acne as permanent scarring, painful infections, or both, may occur. If you enjoyed this post, make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed!
